The Rivers State Police Command said it raided a hideout of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner of Police Okon Effiong made the disclosure on Friday while parading suspected criminals terrorizing parts of the state.

According to Effiong, 10 members of IPOB, including those who were involved in the burning of the Oyigbo police station during the EndSARS protest were among the arrested.

Effiong who vowed that the command will not allow any form of criminal activities in the state disclosed that seven out of the eight kidnappers who abducted the CEO of an Oil company on the Rumuokoro flyover were nabbed and their victim rescued. This was achieved when operatives of the command stormed the camps of fake Civilian JTF in Ahoada and Omoku.

CP Effiong, who further disclosed that over 120 suspected criminals were arrested for various offences across the state, reeled out statistics of arrests, recoveries and casualties.

“Twenty-two kidnap suspects and 27 armed robbers were arrested while three police officers were killed within the time under review,” he stated.

He added that 21 arms and 136 ammunition were recovered, 11 kidnap victims were rescued and four bunkering sites were destroyed by the officers between October and December 2022.
