The Police in Lagos State have arrested two suspected traffic robbers who have been terrorising motorists in the Iganmu /Ijora Badia area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Monday.

Hundeyin said that the suspects were tracked through their mobile phones, which fell off from the pocket of one of the suspects while escaping initial arrest.

He said that a resident raised an alarm about the suspects’ activities on Saturday, at about 2.00 p.m.

Hundeyin said the resident raised the alarm after a group of hoodlums, numbering about 10, swooped on him and robbed him of N30,000, while he was fixing his car under the Iganmu Bridge.

Hundeyin said that the alarm attracted the attention of the police surveillance team of Ijora Badia Police Division and a vigilance group on Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, who gave the robbers a hot pursuit.

“LThe combined team raced to the scene and the suspects escaped. The operatives, however, recovered one Botel Phone, weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp at the scene.

“However, on Sunday, at about 10.00 a.m., operatives were able to track the duo of Adamu Abdullahi, 28, and Adam Mohammed, 19, who were the ring leaders of the gang.

“It was discovered that Adamu Abdullahi is the owner of the recovered phone. Suspects confessed to the crime and the victim also identified them,” he said.

Hundeyin said that police were on the trail of other members of the gang, while investigation into the case was ongoing.
