A man in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Ishaq, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing a commercial tricycle, better known as Keke NAPEP.

The 22-year-old Ishaq, a resident of Geriyo, a community in Yola North Local Government Area, was arrested after he allegedly took the Keke NAPEP from the premises of a Mosque at Gate 4, one of the entry gates to the Jimeta Modern Market, Yola.

Spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development Saturday afternoon to Daily Post, adding that the suspect removed the Keke NAPEP from where the owner parked it and joined other worshipers observing prayers at the Mosque.

“The suspect was arrested within Jimeta and investigation has revealed that he took the tricycle from around the Gate 4 Mosque when worshipers were observing their prayers,” Nguroje said.

DAILY POST reports that stealing of Keke NAPEP around the Jimeta Modern Market appears to be a growing trend.

A month back, on June 7, a 25-year-old Suleiman Auwal was apprehended for allegedly stealing such a vehicle from the market and taking it to nearby Jambutu where he, foolishly, began to carry passengers, leading to his arrest a few days later by the police.

The Police had said at the time that, as in the latest case, the suspect took the Keke NAPEP from a mosque, in that particular case the main Jumat Mosque in the expansive Jimeta Modern Market complex.
