1. Following the newly released third quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report by the National Bureau of Statistics, President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians of better economic output as the economy continues to expand. Nigeria’s GDP grew by 3.46 per cent, compared to the 3.19 per cent growth recorded in the second quarter, according to the NBS.

2. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, has said the probe instituted by the Federal Government to identify civil servants receiving salaries after relocating abroad is still ongoing. She said that the process had not been swept under the carpet.

3. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the tracking of constituency projects worth N21 billion across Kaduna State. The commission said the move was part of its effort to ensure accountability and transparency in the execution of public-funded projects.

4. At least 30 people have been killed in several communities across two Local Government Areas of Benue State. It was gathered that many rural communities of Katsina-Ala and Logo LGAs came under invasion on Sunday and in the early hours of Monday.

5. Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 523 suspects for their involvement in various criminal activities across the state. Among those arrested were 26 kidnappers, 12 cattle rustlers, 97 phone snatchers, 17 car snatchers, 10 rape suspects, among others.

6. The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Damagun, on Tuesday asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a bye election to fill up the seats of the sacked pro-Wike lawmakers in Rivers State following their defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

7. Former Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, is on the watchlist of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This is just as the anti-graft agency commenced an investigation into transactions, including contracts awarded during Obaseki’s tenure as the governor of Edo State.

8. Two Nigerians, Anthony Ibekie and Samuel Aniukwu, have been sentenced by a United States federal jury to 30 years combined jail term for defrauding some US citizens of $3,500,000. This was contained in a press release made available on the US Department of Justice website. They deceived their victims by telling them that they had received substantial inheritances that required some money to claim.

9. The Nigeria Customs Service, Joint Border Patrol Team Sector 2, South West, has announced the interception of contraband goods valued at N556 million over the past four weeks. These seizures include 816 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 802 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petro, and several other illicit items.

10. The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,770 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,750 per dollar last weekend. Similarly, the Naira depreciated to N1,675.62 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM.
