Troops of the Nigerian Army eliminated four terrorists while carrying out “ambush and raid” operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.

The killings of the criminals followed the thwarting of a kidnap attempt on the headmaster of a primary school in Plateau State.

Director Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu while making the disclosure, stated that the troops, on 15 March 2024 killed two terrorists while responding to credible intelligence on the use of Gwamtu -Duduwa- Kujeni route in Kajuru Local Government area of Kaduna State for movement of logistics to support terrorists in Rijana Forest.

In the aftermath of the encounter, Nwachukwu said the troops recovered two AK 47 Rifles, two AK 47 Magazines, four rounds of 7.62mm (Special) and PKGM link belt.

He listed other items recovered from the hoodlums to include one recoiling spring, two motorbikes, camouflage jungle hat, packs of tobacco and fetish amulets.

In another operation, while also acting on actionable intelligence, troops raided a terrorists’ hideout at Dutsen Kura in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State where two terrorists met their disastrous end.

General Nwachukwu said the troops recovered one 81mm Mortal bomb, three Baofeng Radios, one empty PKT Gun ammunition box/links, four Bandoliers, two motorbikes, four pairs of military woodland camouflage and one ballistic helmet from the terrorists.

Relatedly, in Plateau State, troops responding to a distress call swiftly repelled a kidnap attempt on one Mr Solomon Zakka, the Headmaster of Pilot Primary School, Daffo.

The Army spokesman said the headmaster was kidnapped from his residence at Maiduna Village in Bokkos Local Government area of Plateau State before his rescue by the troops.

“On being alerted, the vigilant troops pursued and engaged the kidnappers in a firefight, forcing them to relinquish their abductee,” he said.
